King’s crowned champions of London

King's College London have won the inaugural London Colleges Athletics Series after a triumphant display on track and field at the Millennium Arena. The club defended the lead they secured at the Lee Valley GP against strong opposition from Imperial College London. SLXLM King’s students have been at the forefront of organising the LCAS and will feel proud of their achievements in staging the series, and winning it. King’s Secure Southwark Park Athletics Track

King's and Southwark Council have confirmed the club will have co-resident status of Southwark Park Athletics Track. A multi-million pound refurbishment project is underway and the track is planned to open late summer 2015. King's will share the track with their new partners - London City Athletics Club [LCAC]. The upgrade of the track will be delivered in two phases; 1) Refurbishment of the track and infield; 2) refurbishment of the athletics building. Phase 1 will see a brand new six lane track laid down with a grassed central area. The plans allow for a full range of athletics activities to be delivered.

King's opened up a healthy lead after an impressive performance on track and field at the latest LCAS meet at Lee Valley. Medals came early and in abundance as King's dominated the 1 Mile Championship event which opened the match. Sebastien Zaackowski and Jack Harrison came first and third in the men's competition while Mimi Corden-Lloyd, Laura Deering and Hannah Baynham completed an all King's podium for the ladies. King’s 8 points adrift after LCAS opener

King's are just 8 points behind rivals UCL at the end of the inaugural LCAS meet at Tooting Bec this weekend. The team beat UCL at varsity but were without some key athletes at last weeks first LCAS meet. King’s took home 144 points compared to UCL’s 152 and Imperials 133.
